Description

Although Clarence Thomas remains a controversial figure, few know him beyond his contentious confirmation battle. But beyond the headlines, Thomas’ life is a classic American tale: born poor in the segregated South, only to become one of the most influential justices in the highest court in the land. Created Equal tells Thomas’ life story truly and fully, without cover-ups or distortions.

An excellent video in understanding Judge Clarence Thomas! I find hope from this video in that anyone who had Judge Clarence Thomas’s struggle through life can arrive at and maintain a Conservative philosophy.

Remarkable man of integrity . His life story should be required learning in the history of an American !

  3. R Beynon

Incredible story well put together. A wonderful documentary of the possibilities afforded us in the United States

Can’t get any more informed about racism than from a Black man who has lived on all sides of the issues and still succeeded to the highest office of his profession. I lived in Mississippi in the 1960’s as a teenager, but coming from a military family, I also grew up living with Black children on the same bases without discrimination. This film comes full circle for me because Justice Thomas rises above the fray, as an independent thinker ,fulfilling our Forefather’s promises and doctrines.

Strength comes from overcoming great obstacles. This film shows why he is so strong.

The story of Justice Thomas life is one where God had a hand in his accomplishments. This documentary should be required to be seen in every classroom in America. Justice Thomas is a blessing to America.

Excellent documentary. Over the years I have listened to many truly great black men; Thomas Sowell, Bob Woodson, Walter Williams, and yes the great Clarence Thomas. What a gift from God he has been to us through the SCOTUS. I did not know that, just like the other three men I mentioned, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas also flirted with Marxism in his early college years. These men over the decades, have spoken eloquently for our republic form of government and capitalism and against Marxism. All God’s gifts to us.
I loved learning about Thomas’ life through this documentary. Time well spent. I actually ordered the DVD from Salem a year ago when offered on a $10 special. I never received it and don’t know what happened.

This is a wonderful documentary narrated mostly by Thomas himself. You really get a sense of the man, and see how corrupt DC is. I came away hopeful and encouraged. This will inspire those who watch it with an open mind.

The only other Salem Media documentary I’ve viewed is Larry Elder’s “Uncle Tom,” and though I liked it immensely nothing is quite as compelling as one on one with a fascinating man whose life took many grueling twists and turns on the way to manhood.

As you will learn, Justice Thomas was born into poverty with an absent father but a mother wise enough to see he was raised in a two-parent home, the home of his material grandparents in the Gullah community of Savannah, Georgia.

The biggest influence in his life came to be his no nonsense, tough as nails grandfather, Myers Anderson. The crags in this man’s face reveal a tough life, but an even tougher character. Their relationship was not always amiable, but it was his grandfather, his Catholicism, and the 1960s obligatory, understandable and thankfully quite brief off-road trip into withering Marxist anger that made him what he is today, a man of pleasant but firm character and shining integrity. Thank God for Mr. Anderson and his work ethic.

Naturally you will revisit the rancorous 1991 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing chaired by none other than Senator Joe Biden. I remember seeing this live on TV and thinking, “What the hell has this nation come to?” That was 31 years ago. It’s instructive watching it again and listening to what the mature Justice Thomas thinks of this “high-tech lynching.”

Also revealing is how pompous and posturing Joe Biden was in his prime. The committee as a whole reminds me of scenes from Carl Dreyer’s La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc. You might appreciate that it was the willingness of the members of the committee to peer down their noses at a man more honorable than themselves that turned Andrew Breitbart into an outspoken conservative.

Let me conclude by saying this is a first-rate documentary, well paced, edited and directed, but it wouldn’t be as special without Justice Thomas’s narration. He is a man for all seasons.

Now someone needs to produce a documentary for Salem on the always inquiring and learned Thomas Sowell.

An inspiring story of overcoming countless obstacles and insurmountable challenges through faith in the Lord, humility and a determination to not allow himself to be a victim of either a life he was handed or poor decisions made as a youth.
How many confused and angry young lives would be turned around if the main line theaters, media and our public schools would air this movie? But then again, this is the very reason why they won’t.
