Description
The Streets Were My Father features the real life journey of three inner-city Chicago men from fatherlessness to gangs, and from life in prison to prison ministry programs that set them on the road to redemption. And lives as productive members of society.
John Segal –
I chaired the National Fatherhood Initiative for 18 years (www.fatherhood.org). We did many very good adds and videos, but I must say that “The Streets Were My Father” is one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen describing the effects of father absence, a tragedy unique to America. As suggested I have purchased ten copies of “The Streets Were My Father” and will send them to friends. Blessings to Our American Stories for producing this gem.

This is a touching, authentic view of what happens when fatherless boys get into trouble. It is amazing.

TANDING! I mentored a few kids in our neighborhood, who just needed an ear, an outlet, and a trusted advisor. My own sons didn’t understand WHY they came to me. Now, as adults, they DO, and thank me for never being too busy to give ANYONE, our most precious resource, OUR TIME! These children, teens, had both parents, 75%, but their parents were too busy making money, to see their teens pain! As a divorced mom, I was busy also, BUT NEVER TOO BUSY TO SEE THAT PAIN, or to ask WHY? My sons thought all parents were like me! However, I know if you don’t take the time WHILE THEY NEED YOU, you will spend your time visiting their grave or in prison! I FOUND THE TIME! One young teen who was brought to me, was very serious about killing his parents! Thank God, God gave me the right words that afternoon to prevent a tragedy for all three of them! I also thank God for the teen who brought this teen to me, before he acted upon “his way” to stop the pain, permanently! I changed several lives during that time! I’ve also lost a couple teens who I helped, later in life to die by violence! Please, if you see ANYONE who just needs a moment to talk, TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN, even if you just ask if they need something! Your ear/advice may change that person’s life, and others! I will share this with everyone I know & many I don’t! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

This is so powerful and moving! I feel even those of us who do have fathers, will appreciate them so much more, and determine to work on and pray for The Lord to help us build better and greater relationships with them while they are still alive. The way this was done is so engaging. Even although I could not imagine being where these men have been, one can feel The Holy Spirit massaging you’re heart and mind, with a sense of hope that God can touch and help whatever area in our lives we need His help with. God bless Lee Habeeb for making this film and all 3 men who shared their lives with us – the anointing on these 4 men and this movie is profound. Thank you. There will be many who’s lives will be changed forever after watching this. Defiantly worth gifting to others or sharing the trailer! xxx

The film helped me understand the effects of loss of father’s in our society and in reflection how it effected my own life.

Wow! 3 powerful stories! It makes sense that everything we become begins in the home with the way our parents or lack of parents raise us.
